Release Review: What dropped in March?

- Either Way, It’ll Be Ok cover art provided by Malz Monday

  1. Family Computer - louvdon

  2. Elevator Music - Apollo Brown

March was a great month for some fresh dope artists to show out with a new project. Although I wasn’t aware of too many underground albums, there were a strong handful of artists that I would say are rising stars or mid-level in terms of career stage, but definitively FIRE when it comes to the music.

From uplifting messages off of Confess Your Faults by rising Detroit Artist Anav Yapah, to the alternative melodic rap smooth voice of Q on 10 Songs, March brought us some gems for all walks of life to enjoy.

Let us know which project here is your favorite and if there is anyone we should look out for in April!

Artist Spotlight: Rob.

- cover of upcoming single 20h6 by Rob. & JESSUH

Who are you?

I’m Rob., a music producer from Scotland.

When did you start making music and who were your influences?

I started making music around October 2021 messing around on my brother’s laptop. I’ve always taken inspiration from wherever I can, from mainstream rappers like Playboi Carti, to more vocal performers like Frank Ocean and The Weeknd. I’ve always found a way to combine the music I digest into the music that I create.

What makes you stand apart from other rap artists?

What makes me different is the production value. Nothing will come out unless I truly believe it to be the best it can be. Probably why I’ve been sitting on 10-15 “finished” songs since 2023. I make sure to get involved with all aspects and treat making a song more like painting a picture; it takes time but the end result is always worth it.

What has been your favorite album of this past year?

For me the best album of this past year will have to be Music by Playboi Cari. Now what I expected in the slightest but cuts like FMODJ and Wake up F1lthy are out of this world and boundary pushing to be honest.

Is there anything that you are working on or want people to know about?

Me and JESSUH are working on our debut collaborative album “Chrome Love”. this has been a tape that we’ve been working on since we first stated collaborating back in 2022. We’ve always wanted to create something special together and it’s good to have someone as creative as JESSUH to work alongside with.

How are you preparing for your next project and when are you planning for it to come out?

We’ve released 3 singles so far, “Villain Interlude”, “SHE”, and most recently “System”. We’ve worked really hard on just these 3 songs and have a good 7-8 more to share with the world which will blow some minds. We’re hoping to release single in the next month with visuals of the album coming out during summer.

Any closing thoughts?

I hope I’ve given you all a good reason to check me out and hopefully stay tuned into all the new music and content that goes on in our little space. Thanks to all of you for reading!
